Chiang Mai-final days

The last couple of days in Chiang Mai were spent in town navigating the night markets and the non-existent sidewalks. The days are cooler but the air is getting worse. In the Thailand countryside, farmers burn their crops every year, typically at the end of February. Not sure why it’s started earlier this year, but it’s a good time to be leaving as it will only get worse.

One of the things that is more of an issue in Chiang Mai than Bangkok is the sidewalks, of all things. The sidewalks and the streets all tend to run together as, more often than not, the sidewalks are blocked with motorbikes, tables, utility poles, etc. Walking anywhere means walking in the street, at some point, dodging around motorbikes and cars. Even when they are not blocked, they are uneven, missing parts/pieces, have high curbs or are filled with people. Anyone who tries to walk without paying attention to where there feet are headed, are going to be in for a tumble. No idea how anyone with a disability would get around. I’m guessing they don’t, as I’ve yet to see anyone with a walker or in a wheelchair.

Finish off with beautiful Chiang Mai pics.
