I woke up with a tight back so while walking around, I decided it would be a good idea to get a massage. After all, it had only been a few days since my last one, and a girl has to take care of herself. Right? So, I signed up for a 120 minute, deep tissue massage. All was going great, until I realized that she had pulled down the sheet and exposed my butt. Then she oiled me up and gave me a butt massage. As many massages as I’ve had in my life, I have NEVER had anyone rub my butt. It was wonderful, but I was a bit concerned about what might get massaged when I turned over….OK, you know me. You KNOW I had to go there, didn’t you?
Then from my butt to my back. She literally crawled on top of me and put her elbows down so hard on my back that I was a bit concerned that my breast implants would burst. They didn’t, but I held my breath a couple of times, anyway. At least I don’t have any photos to share of this experience. You are most welcome!
Lantern release
One of the things that Hoi An is most known for is it’s Lantern Festivals. On every full moon night, the town adorns itself with the shimmering glow of thousands of lanterns. Under the perfectly round full moon, thousands of lanterns of various colors are lit, transforming the ancient streets into a dreamlike scene. Th lanterns indicate a deep harmony between humans and nature, sky, and earth, while also honoring the intricate craftsmanship of Hoi An’s traditional lantern-making.
Part of this festival is the release of floating lanterns on the river. Each floating lantern carries with it a wish, a hope for peace, good fortune, and happiness. Riding in a wooden boat on the river, releasing a lantern was a very surreal and peaceful experience. Even though the river was full of boats, it felt very personal.

I head to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) next. I know it will busy and chaotic so enjoying my last days in Hoi An…in spite of the Karaoke, played at concert deafening volumes, and sang in Vietnamese, at all house of the day and night. I think it’s actually a lunch pastime for people who work. They certainly get into it.
