About Perpignan
Perpignan is the French capital of the Pyrénées-Orientales and is a beautiful medieval town full of amazing sights. Close to Spain, the city has a deep Catalan heritage and lies between the Pyrénées and the Mediterranean Sea. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, the summer is long and hot while the winters are clear.
I spent some time strolling along the canal, stopping to shop, have coffee and people watch.

La Carmagnole
It was recommended that I try a restaurant in Perpignan that was only open for several hours a day beginning at noon. They served a set menu that changed every day.
I wasn’t exactly sure what I was ordering, but it appeared to be Indian/Turkish? They kept bring course after course, and it was wonderful! Will try it again.

Lake La Roho
One one of my trips to Perpignan, we stopped at Lake La Roho, a man-made reservoir that had a great walking trail. The clouds that day provided an ever-changing landscape on the water.
The lake was stocked with very large carp that breached and flopped around in the shallow water.

Musée d’art Hyacinthe Rigaud
This beautiful museum was restored in 2017 It offers a rich and varied panorama of Perpignan’s art history, from the 15th to the 20th century.
The Baroque period is illustrated by works by Hyacinthe Rigaud, while modern art revolves around such great names as Aristide Maillol, Pablo Picasso, Raoul Dufy, Jean Lurçat and Georges Daniel de Monfreid.

And of course, my favorite art….
