Being in San Miguel de Allende for two months has given me a new perspective on staying longer-term in a location. I also picked up on this while in Merida. I had planned on being there for two months, but ended up only doing one.
While I am enjoying the beautiful scenery, weather, and hanging out with friends in San Miguel, I am getting a bit antsy about going to a new location. Going forward, unless circumstances change, I will definitely be moving move often. Besides, there is a lot of the world left to see….and I am not getting any younger so time is ticking.
For the past three weeks, I’ve been staying at my friends place (Betsy and Teri) to hang out with their puppies while they are traveling in Europe. Having the “boys” to hang out and cuddle with makes my longer stay also easier (not to mention the pool that sometimes reaches 90 degrees). Betsy and Teri are headed back to the States in the middle of April, so I will definitely be ready to move on after they leave. They have made me feel like family, and I am so grateful to be able to spend time with them, the puppies and their wonderful friends here in San Miguel.
I will be heading back to my apartment in a few days, and my oldest son Josh, and my youngest grandson, Casey, will be visiting me there in a few days. I am SO excited to see them and show them around. This will make it easier to stay here until the end of April, when I move to Oaxaca for a month. My friend, Rosie, will be visiting me there, so really looking forward to that as well. Traveling alone is great….but, sharing the experience with loved ones is even better!
By the time I fly to the States on June 4, I will have been in Mexico for five months, two months longer than I had originally planned when figuring out travel plans. But, it’s been an adventure, and I’ve enjoyed my time here.

Just for fun, or not!

I got up a couple of mornings ago, went to the sink to get water and moved a bowl that was sitting there. This THING ran out, and I will admit…I screamed like a girl! It doesn’t look as big and bad in the photo as it did in person. It was about two inches long.
Large, scurrying insects are not my favorite things. But, it could have been MUCH worse….it could have been a big spider.
What do I do? I didn’t want to kill it, but also didn’t want to try to grab it with a tissue and put it outside. Yeah, visions of it running up my arm into my hair. UGGG. And, I couldn’t stand the thought of having to squish something that large and hearing the “stuff” crack. Again, UGGG.
So, I found a plastic jar, put it over the bug and tipped it into the jar. I took it outside and put it in the flower bed, hoping that it did not make another appearance in the kitchen or elsewhere.
So far…so good!
